Like a shot of its gourmet coffee or a glimpse of its native jaguars, Panama perks up savvy travelers with its spicy stew of Spanish, indigenous and Afro-Caribbean traditions.
But look beyond the weather-beaten, Cuban-esque glamour of Casco Viejo, the capital’s historic district and a World Heritage Site. The Trump Ocean Club Tower debuted last year as Latin America’s tallest building.
This great glittering wing of a skyscraper now presides over Panama City's economic and tourism uptick. Not to mention the $5.25-billion canal extension and upcoming Biomuseo, designed by architectural superstar Frank Gehry to celebrate the area’s hyperdiverse ecosystem. Soon the Trump will unveil a private beach club on nearby Isla Viveros, complete with a hydrofoil link for residents and guests at its five-star hotel.
