SERENISSIMA, MY @SS
VENICE, Italy –  We malinger on the Roman runway a few hours. Someone checked a suitcase, then skived off the flight. Security's pouring over the hold, the engine's snarling and I'm sitting in the back row beside the open door. Sonic massage.

Eventually I arrive in Venice and glance at my watch. "Could have taken the train faster," I comment to my speedboat captain.

"You would have had a better time," he says.

"Si, certo," I yawn. Cause that's politer, in any language, that "duh" ...

  1. How do you say "duh" in Italian?

  2. Funny, I don't know. Maybe I'm more polite on the Continent.

    "Un sacco di stupido", perhaps?
