THE COST OF TRAVEL-WRITING COURSES ONLINE (AND A DISCOUNT ON MINE AT WRITERS.COM)

As my two travel-writing courses kick off next week for Writers.com – the intro and master class – a potential student wrote, expressing some sticker shock. So I took a good hard look at the competition...

SCHOOL PRICE UNITS PRICE/UNIT
Writers.com intro $340 10 $34
Matador U $350 12 $29.17
Gotham $399 + $25 fee 10 $42.5
Mediabistro $499 8 $62.38
Writers Workshop $500 6 $83.33
UCLA Extension $579 9 $64.33

And once more, I'm grateful to work for a school that not only keeps rates affordable, but offers teachers the best percentage I've ever encountered – online or brick-and-mortar. That's especially impressive as we're known for detailed weekly critiques from instructors with extensive publishing track records. (Check out some of my favorite student comments or, for a less biased view, sign onto this Travelwriters.com bulletin-board thread).

Writers.com, you do me proud!

But, hey, I've endured plenty of sticker shock: I know the feeling all too well. So I'm happy to extend a 10% discount for the autumn term to readers and their friends (code BAX912). After all, the more, the merrier!

Hope to see some of you in class!

  3. Samuel, your "How to Take The Worst-Ever Travel Photos" post cracked me up. I'll share it with my students and also over at Writers.com's Facebook page. Funny stuff!
