Not Illegal, But Unethical: NW Scuba Divers Recoil from The Killing Of A Beloved Octopus

It breaks my heart to see a nesting female Giant Pacific Octopus harvested at Seattle's Cove Two, a site I've covered for Sport Diver magazine. Time for a marine sanctuary and stronger fishing regulations overall!

The Seattle Times wrote an excellent story about the push to protect GPOs and this site, in particular. I especially liked this quote from Fish and Wildlife's Craig Bartlett, "There are a lot of ethical issues involved with fishing and hunting. It isn't just a biological decision we make here. It's also about what society will tolerate."

Weigh in by signing the petition to protect Seacrest Park and re-evaluate GPO hunting regs all over WA.
